Bobcat Takes 50-Mile Car Trip…Stuck in the Grill

An extremely lucky Virginia bobcat survived a 50-mile trip stuck in a car's grill!

Thanksgiving morning was about to get a little more interesting for Richmond Animal Care and Control Director Christie Peters. While simply baking a chocolate pie for the big celebration, she received a text message from her colleague, RACC Officer Barbara Jones.

Peters said, "Officer Jones sent me a text message at 8:06. And the text was, 'I'm on a call with a bobcat stuck in the grill of a car - and he's still alive'"

Apparently a woman driving through Gloucester County on her way to VCU in Richmond had struck a bobcat and traveled with the animal in the car's grill for almost an entire hour.

Well all that changed once Director Peters and Officer Jones arrived on seen to care for the big cat.

Here's more:

The bobcat was summarily anesthetized and taken to the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro. Officials there said that the animal will eventually be released back into the wild near the area where he was hit in Gloucester County.

Peters ended by saying, "Animal Control is so funny, you never know what you're going to walk into. It's perfect that it was Thanksgiving... because it was just a miracle and we're so grateful that it ended the way that it did."
