Two bald eagles are lucky to be alive after becoming entangled with a power line. The two birds were fighting mid-air when they encountered the man-made obstacle.
The two birds became entangled, according to the OWL Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society. The organization sprang into action to rescue the two bald eagles from a neighborhood in Surrey, England. The two became caught in the power line and was left dangling upside down with their wingles tangled up.
They carefully helped the birds get unstuck from the lines. The birds were thankful and flew away in different directions. They fortunately didn't continue their fight rather grateful to see another day.
Bald Eagles Stuck
"Luckily, they suffered no serious injuries and were able to fly off immediately," the organization wrote on Facebook. "This time of year, they are fighting to protect their nests or their young, and this was the best possible outcome to go back to their respective babies."
According to the electric company B.C. Hydro, they became aware that the eagles were trapped in the power line. The company sprung into action and "quickly de-energized the line to support a safe rescue."
"Once their talons were separated, both eagles took off right away — uninjured," B.C. Hydro told the outlet.
Fights between eagles is common this time of year. But admittedly, this had an unpredictable outcome.
"There is fighting pre-nesting season," a rescue explained, "which is usually territorial, or mate battles. At this time of year, most of them are paired up and have their young or their nest sites. One of the eagles, we don't know which one, was defending its territory or itself and they got into this predicament."
Thankfully, none of the bald eagles suffered serious injuries. These organizations bravely came to their aid.
