Abel Fly Reels Release an AC/DC-Inspired Reel, and Headbanging Anglers Everywhere Rejoice

This new reel from Abel is going to have you rocking the river.

The fly fishing world often comes across as a little snooty, slightly stuck up, and in heavy contrast to the reckless abandon usually associated with hard rock music. Abel Fly Reels is helping falsify that notion with their latest limited edition reel featuring a hand-painted and anodized logo of the iconic band AC/DC.

The collaboration presents 300 individually-serialized fly reels available for $1,355. They're taking preorders and will begin shipping the limited series reels in May.

Two sizes of the Abel Super Series fly reel will be splashed with the paint job, including both the 5/6 and 7/8 variations.

Abel Fly Reels AC/DC

Even if it's on the expensive side we're impressed, and still attracted to the awesomeness Abel puts into their fly reels. This brand new reel on a fly rod won't only gain attention, but it'll do the work a good reel's supposed to do.

The reel frame, spool, drag knob, and foot are made of 6061-T651 cold-finished aerospace grade aluminum, and it's constructed with the same patented "smooth as silk" cork drag system Abel has become known for.

The reel and its components are 100% American-made, and a proprietary process helped add the smoke effect to the entire reel face. If that doesn't give off a hard rock vibe, we don't know what does!

Abel Fly Reels AC/DC

You might recall a similar project by Abel back in 2013, when they teamed up with the Grateful Dead and Rhino Entertainment for another band-inspired fly fishing reel. That was in celebration of Abel's 25th anniversary, and this new reel follows suit.

If you want to get your hands on an AC/DC reel, you'll probably want to jump on the opportunity sooner than later. A limited reel like this one doesn't stand much of a chance of being available forever.

If you're ready to go after big game fish with some hard rock in your head, this is the reel for you.

For those about to rock (the river), we salute you!
