Talk about a bad break. Someone purchased a truck and hasn't been able to drive it off the lot. It's all thanks to a robin, a federally protected bird, building a nest on the tire.
The situation occurred at a Ford Lincoln dealership in Kansas. The dealership shared the situation on social media. Someone bought a F-250 truck, but the truck has a robin nest on its tire.
"This may be the only F-250 in America currently protected by the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act," the dealership wrote. It is illegal to touch or destroy an active robin nest. "Because robins and their active nests are federally protected, we legally cannot relocate the nest at this stage and, truthfully, our team has become a little too invested in these babies to rush them out now."
Robin Nest on a Truck
The robin has a nest with four blue eggs, which hatched to baby birds.
"We're just playing the waiting game and watching them grow," a dealership manager, Sammi Dodson, told From the Road. "It's so exciting. We're shocked at how fast they grow... it's going to be sad to see them go."
This isn't the first time that something like that happened.
"We found some cats in the cars before," she told the outlet. "One of the employees has adopted a cat found in one of the trucks. And just today someone just came in to get their oil changed, and we lifted up the hood and there was a mama possum with about seven baby possums."
"And so, we're all laughing because we're an animal rescue," she added.
