Texas Dad Killed After Tornado Flipped His Mobile Home

A Texas dad has tragically died after a tornado hit his mobile home. The resulting storm caused his trailer to flip, killing him and injuring his wife and children.

The incident happened in Runaway Bay on April 25. An EF-2 tornado struck through the area in the path of the mobile home. According to  KTVT, 51-year-old Juan Madrid rushed to help his wife after noticing the tornado. His daughter, Jackeline, says this was the last time that she saw her father.

The tornado then picked up the mobile home and flipped it.

"Everything happened so fast," Jackeline said, per KTVT. Sadly, Juan died from his resulting injuries. His death has left a giant hole in the family. His daughter said he "always put others before himself." She will remember that he "loved helping people."

"My dad was always playful... kind of annoying in the best way," Jackeline said. "He'd come into my room just to bug me... and now I'd give anything to have that back."

The family released a statement after the passing of their patriarch. They called Juan "an amazing and hardworking husband, father, grandfather and friend."

"He came to this country to provide a better life for his children and he did more than just that," the family stated. "He will be missed more than words can describe."

Meanwhile, the rest of the family was also injured in the resulting tornado. Following the tragedy, the family set up a fundraiser to help with medical and funeral costs. They also don't have a place to live right now.

"No one is ever prepared for this kind of loss," the organizer wrote in the description of the online fundraiser. "The Madrid's are now facing unimaginable grief while also trying to figure out how to move forward."
