For most of us, when we think of great white sharks, we think of them at a far distance from us. While they are majestic creatures, the average person has no desire to see one up close and personal. Mostly, that is because unless you are in a diving cage or on a certain expedition, an up-close encounter with a shark is typically an attack. However, one woman willingly got up close and personal with a great white shark for a brave reason.
Woman Gets Up Close And Personal With Great White Shark
A woman who goes by yogi.backpack online decided to share her encounter on Instagram. In her post, she shared that she was walking along the beach early one morning when she spotted the shark in the shallow waters. In her voice-over, she shared that she was watching the sunrise when she saw the shark. She described it as "super huge and near the shore, hunting, thriving." That was until a wave came and caused the shark to get stuck in the shallow water.
The video clearly showed the woman's distress over the situation. "No, no, no, no, no," she continued to plead as the animal began thrashing around for its life. Additionally, in her caption, she wrote, "Standing there in the surf, watching this powerful animal struggle, my heart was completely shattered." Rather than standing idly by and hoping for the best, she called her husband in for backup.
Together, the two of them entered the water and grabbed hold of the shark. It was a team effort between the two of them and the great white shark. "This shark wanted to live," she shared in her voice-over. "Every time we pushed, he would push with us." In a follow-up video, she shared that while it took over two hours, this woman and her husband were successful at getting the shark safely back into the ocean.
People Don't Condone Her Actions, But Support Them
