Now this is how you start your fishing career!
Chris Price, of Middle Tennessee, took his 6-year-old daughter, Farrah, fishing on Old Hickory Lake Monday. While he hoped to get her on a fish, neither of them could've expected to hook what he called a "once-in-a-lifetime" catch.
"We hadn't been fishing for 20 minutes and the rod started bending," Chris told Q2 News.
After roughly 15 minutes of battling a fish she knew was big, Farrah got some help from her father. He'd unfortunately have to work with his bare hands, though, as he forgot his net at home. But eventually he was able to pull the 58-pound blue catfish over the side of the boat.
"I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this monster catfish coming out of the water," he said in the interview.
The most refreshing part of this story is that it was Farrah's persistence that had the two out on the water. Freezing cold temperatures and high winds would've kept the majority of anglers back in the warmth of their homes. But Chris said Farrah asked to go anyway.
He also added that he hopes Farrah's success will motivate other parents to experience the outdoors with their children.
A 58-pound catfish is an amazing catch! Congratulations, Farrah!
