2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Beats Ford GT Lap Time at VIR

If you doubted Chevrolet's claims of the new ZR1 being the fastest production Corvette ever, you'll want to see this!

In an attempt to show how fast the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 really is, Chevrolet headed to the 4.1-mile Virginia International Raceway road course. When the dust settled, the ZR1 had set a record for the fastest lap ever at VIR with a time of 2:37.25. Making this record even sweeter, the ZR1's lap time handily beat the 2:38.62 lap time of the Ford GT!

This might not be the Nürburgring we've all been waiting for, but it does give this 755-horsepower Corvette serious bragging rights against the GT. And the run was all caught on camera courtesy of the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder.

Another advantage the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 holds over the GT is its price with the ZR1 Coupe starting at $119,995. For improved track performance, this car was also equipped with the $2,995 ZTK Performance Package that includes an adjustable carbon-fiber High Wing, a front splitter with carbon-fiber end caps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer-only tires and unique tuning for the chassis and Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

The only modifications made for this run include track seats with five-point harnesses and a harness bar for safety; everything else is all factory equipment.
