12-Year-Old Paddles Grand Canyon in a Kayak, Makes History [VIDEO]

Abby Holcombe paddled all 280 miles of the Colorado River in a 5-foot, 2-inch pink kayak.

In late March of 2017, 12-year-old Abby Holcombe set a record - she became the youngest to paddle all 280 miles of the Colorado River, from Lee's Ferry to Pearce Ferry, through the cavernous and breathtakingly beautiful Grand Canyon. Accompanied by her parents on the adventure, the three waited a long eight years to win the necessary permits to tackle the river. In the end, it was all worth it.

Abby has a paddling background, and was in fact the Junior Women's Freestyle Kayaking National Champion at the time she embarked on her epic 26-day paddle. To think that she only flipped twice (and in the same rapid) is an accomplishment in itself.

Here's the incredible story:

Talk about a trip, and adventure, of a lifetime!

A tip of the Wide Open Spaces hat to you, Abby, on a job well done.
