A 11-year-old suffered life-altering injuries after being attacked by an alligator. He was visiting Florida with his family from Pennsylvania when a gator mangled his hand.
Sadly, it could not be saved. The incident happened at Nelson Fish Camp on July 7. The 11-year-old had been fishing near the shore when an alligator attacked and bit him.
"The victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. An FWC law enforcement officer dispatched the 8'7" alligator," the FWC confirmed.
"Brodie's father jumped into the water on top of it and tried to pry his mouth open," Raines said. "The gator rolled, and that's what ultimately severed Brodie's hand."
Alligator Attacks 11-Year-Old
"This tragic accident has not only changed Brodie's life but has also placed a tremendous burden on his family as they navigate the aftermath," a GoFundMe read. "Brodie's passion for fishing, baseball and football have always brought him joy, and now he faces the challenge of adapting to his new circumstances while holding onto the things he loves."
He's far from the only attack in the state. 71-year-old James Grayson McMicken survived an attack with an alligator while fishing himself recently.
"He rolled me down off the bank into the water. I stuck my thumb in one eye, and I just took that fishing pole and jabbed him in that other eye and jabbed him and jabbed him and jabbed him. It seemed like forever, but it wasn't that long. But then, he turned loose," he told the outlet. "I've always heard that if you've got no other choice, get them eyes, and that's what got him off of me."
