If Someone Asks "Will My Camera Stop a Sniper?" Show Them This

Ever wonder if looking through a camera lens would protect you from a shooter? No?

We didn't think so (and neither did Taofledermaus). But just in case, you can watch these guys shoot a camera with an assault rifle.

Although it's fun to shoot at a camera (we guess), what's really cool about this video is that, if you listen carefully, you'll hear that Taofledermaus is able to capture an audible ricochet. This is a rare thing to catch on film (and you might not expect it from this particular target!).

The YouTubers discuss exactly what's happening here, pointing out that if you can actually hear the ricochet, it means the round is traveling relatively slowly — about 100m/hour in this video.

To produce the "zing!" sound, the round must move at a middle-of-the-road speed that's slow enough to hear but fast enough, of course, to retain its momentum.
