Over Easter weekend, Chris Hancock and his buddies were just out fishing when they found something strange in the water.
Near the Buffalo Bill Reservoir in Wyoming, Chris Hancock was just looking to take on some walleye with his friends when they spotted a mountain lion in the water.
The group confirmed that the mountain lion was dead, and soon called Wyoming Game and Fish to inspect the body for any odd circumstances.
The officials performed a necropsy on the animal and determined, as reported by Basin Reboot, “that even though it was found in the water the big cat didn’t die of drowning, as there was no watering the lungs.”
Game and Fish confirmed that the mountain lion probably died trying to cross the reservoir near the Cedar Mountain area and passed away from hypothermia.
Chris Hancock was able to retain ownership of the animal and will harvest the hide and skull.
What a crazy find! As if walleye fishing isn’t exciting enough, right?
