Bucking and splitting giant trees is hard work, there's no two ways about it. But this outstanding film makes it seem like there's nothing better in the whole world.
This is of course just my opinion, but I think this may be Wranglerstar's best video to date.
It left me feeling like there is no more peaceful or rewarding thing on earth than breaking down a giant douglas fir tree.
Cody Crone, aka Wranglerstar, doesn't say a single word during this thoughtfully produced video. All you hear from him is one or two tired and satisfied sighs from a day of working a chainsaw and swinging a splitting maul.
Crone's production skills have grown by leaps and bounds compared to his early simple and unrefined video efforts.
This piece approaches art, with a pleasing variety of shooting angles, strong editing, gentle acoustic soundtrack, and even a brief, well-placed moment or two of slow motion and time-lapse effects.
Turning a big tree into firewood is back-breaking work. But here it also feels very zen-like.
