A World War II tank was found in a swamp in Poland.
A World War II tank was recovered from a swamp on Oct. 25 2012, after all of the years since the second world war.
The tank is a Vickers Valentine tank driven by the Soviet Army during the 1945 assault against German troops on the way to Berlin. The tank initially may have fallen through ice that was over a tributary of the Warta River to come to its resting place in the swamp. But its story really is a mystery.
What an amazing time capsule this find was and it leads us to imagine what other historically significant finds are just beneath our feet.
If you need us, we will be exercising our own metal detectors looking for our own tanks.
