Just because the water's cold doesn't mean you can't boat some cats.
Personally, I think now is the perfect time of year to catch some catfish and have a good fish fry. Bring back some memories of summer before the lakes lock up with ice (here in Michigan anyways). Check the video below to find ways to catch them when it's cold.
So first thing make sure your electronics are in good working order. You will need this to know the water temperature and find the deep holes as described in this video. Fish go deep when the water is cold and shallow when it warms up. So, you need to adjust your depth to the water temperature.
Small baits are key in cold water. The fish are lethargic and lazy and don't want to have to work for their food. While we are talking about lazy fish remember you can't be lazy. If you aren't getting bit move. Just like with ice fishing don't waste your time in water that isn't producing.
Finally, don't play with the catfish crap. Or let it fall on your children.
