Wild mushroom venison pizza casserole will be a meal that the whole family will love.
This new twist on a venison dish just sort of appeared out of nowhere while staring in a rather empty kitchen cabinet consisting of a few cans of tomato sauce, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and a casserole dish. Of course a few other ingredients went into this as well, but this recipe can be as easy or as complicated as you would like. After a while, you will be making your own versions of venison pizza casserole just like that one delivery place down the street.
- 1 pound of ground venison
- 1 can of pizza sauce
- 1 can of tomato sauce
- 1 small can of tomato paste
- 3 cups of spiral type pasta
- Diced onions
- Whole sliced wild mushrooms
- Garlic powder to taste
- Oregano to taste
- Mozzarella cheese
To get this recipe started, brown venison in a large pan. When mostly done, add in a large diced onion, as well as half of the sliced wild mushrooms. Continue to cook until the onions and the mushrooms begin to soften. Next, add in all the cans of sauce.
Bring the sauce to a low simmer while adding spices to your taste. At this same time, add the spiral noodles to boiling water and cook until done.
When finished, mix the noodles and sauce together then add to a casserole dish. Spread a thick layer of mozzarella on top of the mixture with pepperonis and the remaining wild mushrooms placed last.
Bake all this in the oven at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes, then place under the boiler to brown the cheese for a few minutes longer. Enjoy!
