Wild Game at the Big Game: Venison Cream Cheese Dip

This wild game dip will have your friends clamoring for the recipe after the big game.

This venison cream cheese dip can be used with any kind of wild game ground meat you have in your freezer. You can use hamburger, chili meat, breakfast sausage or wild hog sausage, too. I typically use one pound hot breakfast sausage and one pound hamburger.

  • 2 lbs. ground venison of your liking
  • 3 packages cream cheese
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes with green chilis

Warm the cream cheese on low in a crock pot (you could also use a double boiler but the crock pot will keep your dip warm all day wherever you are). Mind that the cream cheese does not burn around the edges.

While the cream cheese is melting, brown the venison in a large skillet, draining off any excess grease. If you are using the hot breakfast sausage, then there is no need to season. With a straight grind like hamburger or chili meat, add salt and pepper to taste.

Add cans of diced tomatoes to the meat. After cream cheese has melted, load the ground meat/tomato mixture into the crock pot and mix well, coating all the meat with the cream cheese.

Tote along a couple bags of your favorite tortilla chip and you have a wild game dip that your friends will go crazy for.
