Venison Stuffed Mushrooms: An Appetizer to Remember

When you have that big holiday party you are going to need appetizers. Try these venison stuffed mushrooms. 

While everyone is milling about at your holiday party, give them some tasty appetizers to lessen the potential awkwardness. These venison stuffed mushrooms will be a conversation starter about wild game, which is a very good gateway to conversation indeed.


20 mushrooms

2 cups ground venison

1/2 cup of chopped bell peppers (any color)

3 tablespoons butter

2 garlic cloves

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon cayenne

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese

chopped parsley

red pepper flakes to taste

salt and pepper to taste


Hollow out mushrooms, including “gills” and stems. Melt the butter in a large skillet, saute garlic first and then add venison and bell peppers. Add spices and cook until meat is done.

Combine the meat mixture, make sure it is cool enough to handle, with breadcrumbs and cheese. Stuff mushrooms with filling and place on cooking sheet. Broil in oven for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted on top. Add parsley for garnish.
