Two Texas Anglers Land Back-To-Back 13-Pound ShareLunker Bass

Texas truly is the land of lunker largemouth!

Texas is renowned for coughing up monster-sized largemouth bass. This was clearly evident in early March when two lucky anglers hauled in 13-plus-pound fish on back-to-back days.

Texas has a unique and inspiring method of promoting and enhancing bass fishing. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Toyota ShareLunker program recognizes anglers who catch a largemouth bass in excess of eight pounds. There are three weight categories and various prizes to go with each.

Barry Prince of Lindale caught this 13.73-pound bass on March 8 from Lake Fork. The fish was held and certified at Oak Ridge Marina, which is one of the official weigh stations.

On the very next day, Cole Turner reeled in a 13.36-pound lunker from Lake Conroe. She was weighed and held at Stow-A-Way Marina and RV Park until ShareLunker staff arrived.

Two incredible trophies caught on back-to-back days in Texas. Now that's what we call an exceptional fishery!

Congrats to you both on your catches - and for making the bass fishing in Texas that much better in the process.

For anglers lucky enough to catch a 13-plus-pound bass, they can be part of the esteemed Lunker Legacy Classin which they loan their catch to the program when caught during the spawning period of January to March to support the selective breeding initiative. It's a win-win for both angler and fishery alike.

Here are two fish that will be passing on their genes for future generations to come.
