Brawling hens caught on a trail camera will get your blood pumping for some spring turkey action.
Even without the sound you can tell that these two girls have a bone to pick with each other.
Hens rule the roost in fall and winter and these two are proving that true. Neither will back down during a fight to see who is in charge.
As the trail camera bottom line shows this was taken in the morning on December 6, 2015. Many areas of N.Y. were snowless and uncovered during December 2015 making for easier for turkeys to find food; that’s assuming that this footage was taken in N.Y. as it doesn’t specifically say.
Once the snow takes over the landscape and it gets more difficult for these birds to find something to eat you can see signs of them scratching deeply into the snow. If you find yourself grouse or bunny hunting this winter or even out looking for sheds, it’s a good way to know when and where turkeys in your area are active.
