It’s an all out battle royale in these lion vs. croc photographs.
A dead and bloated hippo floating upside down near a river bank sets off a heated fight between a hungry lioness and a river full of crocodiles.
The images were taken by Richard Chew in the Maasi Mara Nature Reserve in Kenya, and posted by Caters News, and then by Yahoo.

Encounter on the Banks
Even if we were a lion, we don’t know if we’d be swiping our paws that close to a crocodile’s jaws.
Though you can’t see too clearly, the lion is outnumbered by quite a bit.
Strong Left Hook
The lion seems to have no issue going after what she assumes is her dinner.
Here you can see multiple crocodiles in the water surrounding the dead hippo, which was said to have died the night before of natural causes.
“A Really Unique Moment”
Richard Chew told Caters News that he is a semi-pro photographer from San Francisco, and that he’s traveled the world taking photographs of wildlife. This, he said, was a really unique moment.
Another Swipe at Teeth
There were seeming no holds barred in an anything-goes rumble as the lion vs. croc fight rolled on.
Reptile vs. Mammal: Predator Faceoff
We marveled at these shots taken by Chew, and wondered what must have been going through his mind as he snapped picture after picture.
Who do you think has a stronger jaw, the lion or the crocodile?
One Final Growl
The lion gives the crocodile a roar and glares its teeth at the reptile, looking for one last push for the meat.
The crocs don’t seem to want to give up, and though we aren’t sure who ended up with the hippo, we’re still glad to have shared the photos with you.
