Louisiana State University students are getting backlash for grilling alligators before a football game against the University of Florida.
On Saturday Oct. 17, 2015 tailgating students with a flair for the obvious set up their BBQs before the big game against the University of Florida and their meat of choice caused a stir.
The main course of the day: whole alligator.
The proud University located in Gainesville, Florida just happens to have the nickname "Gators."
One student who posted one of the pictures on the Twitter account Mimo1001 said, "We eat what we kill. It wasn't for a football game, and there's a thing called conservation."
One gator was dressed with a traditional apple in the mouth, another with oranges.
While some saw standard southern fare on the grill, others took umbrage saying things like, "shame on you!" and "Wtf people seriously do this. That's messed up."
Many folks will tell you that gator tastes a lot like chicken and even some seafood.
Will there be razorback on the spit when they play Arkansas on Nov. 14?
It's anybody's guess.
