For Your Spring Bass Viewing Pleasure, Here’s a 12-Pound Beauty [VIDEO]

Spring bass are starting to bite, so get excited with this great clip.

B.A.S.S. Open tournament angler and all around bass guru Scott McGehee thought Wide Open Spaces readers would enjoy this YouTube video he uploaded to his channel recently.

The video shows McGehee snagging a lunker of a bass on a private lake in Madison, Mississippi using his Denali Rosewood Frog Rod, one of his sponsors. He was fishing a Bass Pro 7:1 reel with 65# Power Pro braided line.

What was the lucky lure that ended up deep in that fish’s mouth? It was a Booyah Pad Crasher hollow body frog.

“The bass had started spawning in this lake and the big females had moved up to get the beds ready,” McGehee told us. “My best five for that week went 43 pounds 7 ounces.”

Here’s wishing all of you some luck early in the spring, and hopefully we’ll hear more from McGehee soon. Like he said in the video’s description, “If that doesn’t get your heart pounding, you need to quit fishing.”
