This hunter is trying something new and attempting to raise pack goats.
In case you've never heard of pack goats, here's a brief description of what they do and why anyone would want them.
Pack goats were originally used in the U.S. by John Mionczynski, who used them to pack gear to scientists in the mountains of Wyoming as early as the 1970s. Since goats are domesticated animals, they will typically stay close to camp, even if left unattended. They are also cheaper to keep and use than other pack stock like horses or mules.
In this video, you'll see the first step in the process of raising and training a group of pack goats. Watch to see if this is something you would like to try.
Ike and Mike, I like the names.
It sure will be interesting to follow along and see how this hunter makes out with his goats. Will they turn into trusty hunting partners or a big pain in the rear? Only time will tell.
