10-Foot Snake Skin Shed Found Along Maine River Bank

A large snakeskin shed has been found along the Presumpscot River and officials are now warning the public.

Since June of 2016 police in the Westbrook, Maine area have been searching for a purported 10-foot snake. Now it appears that the creature has shed and the skin it left behind is extraordinary.

Dubbed Wessie, the large and elusive reptile has eluded authorities since it was first sighted at Riverbank Park. Police at the time were able to take a grainy photo of the beast as it slithered into the bush.

The big snake was said to be “the length of a truck with a head the size of a soccer ball.” Police officers even observed the large reptile eating a beaver! Now that they have some of the animals’ skin, the department will have it analyzed to determine the exact species.

Westbrook Police Chief Janine Roberts said, ”Until the type of snake is determined and we can assess the safety risk, we caution people who recreate along the Presumpscot River to remain alert, maintain a safe distance from any wildlife, and report any sightings of the snake to the Westbrook Police Department”

If police officials say that it was seen eating a full-sized beaver, you had better believe folks are now paying attention. That is unless you’re David Pratt, of Scarborough: “Nothing’s going to keep me from the park today, Wessie or Nessie or whatever it is. I’m not afraid”

Stay tuned to find out if Mr. Pratt and friends have any adventures with Wessie!
