Old school “cut shells” are interesting, and possibly dangerous as well .
This slow motion footage shows one of these field expedient shells in flight.
Watch this video and see why cut shells may not be the best idea ever thought of.
Taofledermaus is showing us an old shotgun shell trick that may also cause great danger.
The “cut shell” is a regular shotgun shell that has had a big cut almost completely around half of its circumference. When fired, the oversized chunk of the front portion of the shell squeezes down the barrel and pressure levels spike. This chunk acts as a poor expedient slug for those shooters who like adventure and danger.
A homemade wax slug is also shot in this video to show a side by side comparison.
