A lion pride loafing in their "family tree" was photographed on the Serengeti Plain in central Tanzania.
Photographer Bobby-Jo Clow was with a photographic expedition in Africa when their group came upon a rare and unusual sight: an entire pride of lions resting in a sausage tree.
The groups guide had informed them that the recent rains had grown the grasses on the plains quite long and that the lions were known to climb the trees to escape the many biting insects.
The guide, named Firoz, told the group that it is not common for 15 lions at once to be in a single tree. But even the guide was excited about stumbling upon this.
Clow said: "When your guide gets his camera out and starts taking photos--then you know."
There were about 25 total lions in that particular pride. The group managed to get in range close enough to get some spectacular photos, and could even hear some of the animals snoring in the tree.
