A new indoor gun range slated to open next summer in Austin will be the biggest of its kind in Texas.
Known simply as The Range at Austin, this new indoor shooting range plans to have over 50,000 square feet of indoor space. Currently, the largest indoor shooting range in Texas measures in at 38,000 square feet.
The Range, which saw construction start in September 2015, will feature 37 total rifle-rated lanes and an additional five lanes that offer shooters 100 yards of distance. The Range at Austin will also have a state-of-the-art filtration system to keep the air clean, will offer gun training classes, and have gunsmiths and armorers on staff for gun maintenance and repair.
"You can shoot anything up to .50-caliber at the range, " The Range at Austin spokesman Scott Dunaway recently told Chron. There will be firearms available to rent for visitors, though the roster of weapons hasn't been solidified as of yet. However, visitors can expect to have the opportunity to sample a number of exotic firearms. Discounts will be offered to police and military service members, and the range is in part managed by a Marine Corps veteran.
The Range at Austin is also planning to have VIP facilities with perks such as a cigar room, private lanes, better parking, and meeting rooms, according to the Chron article about The Range.
