What to Do If You Are Pulled Over While Carrying [VIDEO]

If you are pulled over while carrying, even legally, you need to have a plan of exactly how you want to approach the situation.

As hunters, shooters, and 2nd Amendment advocates we have a greater chance to encounter situations where we are pulled over while carrying. How you react is up to you, but choosing the wrong path can give you trouble

Tom Gresham, along with a trained officer, take a few minutes in an excellent video to show us exactly what a traffic stop should look like if you are pulled over while carrying.

A few key things to remember from this video:

  1. Stay calm – If you are freaking out and acting nervous, the officer will often respond by being more alert and more on guard. Stay calm, by carrying legally, you have done nothing wrong so don’t be worried about that.
  2. Don’t use the “gun” word – Like they say in the video, officers are often trained to react quickly when they hear the word “gun.” Make sure you tell them, but choose your words carefully.
  3. Check the laws – Every state has their own concealed carry laws, and each has different expectations for your interactions with law enforcement. It is your duty to know the laws, not just for your rights but so you know the best way to handle a particular situation such as this.
