The USAMU demonstrates some pistol drills to keep your skills sharp.
An important part of firearms training is running pistol drills to test skills and train muscle memory. There are many various drills out there, but choosing the right ones for you can be tough. It’s also hard to figure out if you like a drill or it will be beneficial to you if you don’t know what it looks like.
In this video from the United States Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), Cpl. Matthew Sweeney takes us through some of the drills he and the rest of the unit use to keep their skill and competitive edge sharp.
Demonstrations like these are great; they show how to run these drills so you know you are doing it right. And if the USAMU are using them, that’s good enough for me to add them to my training routine.

The 20 Alpha Drill is a great one to run on an indoor range since you can just run the target out to the needed distances. Practice pistol drills often and keep your skills sharp.
