A 9-foot, 300-pound alligator was removed from a private swimming pool in Lakeland because it's Florida.
Lakeland resident Craig Lear opened the door to let his cats out and got the surprise of his life- a 9-foot alligator was helping itself to a relaxing swim in their pool.
Lear said "I saw a bubble in the pool and I thought a golf ball had come through the screen so I went up and I didn't see a golf ball. I looked in the deep end and there was a big gator"
Actually it was a really big gator!
A professional trapper was called in to capture the big gator which was lassoed and removed unceremoniously from the pool.
The animal was said to have made its way in by pushing through the patio screen surrounding the area. In Florida these kinds of situations seem to happen almost on a daily basis in some areas, and are routine for some residents.
Extreme caution should always be taken and professionals called in whenever possible.
