Ohio Waterfowl Hunting Dates for 2014-15 Season Set by State Wildlife Council

Waterfowl hunters can now plan their hunts as the Ohio waterfowl hunting dates have officially been set by the Ohio Wildlife council.

Ohio waterfowl hunting dates are scheduled for the upcoming season.

The state's three main hunting zones, the North Zone, South Zone, and Lake Erie Marsh Zone, have all been kept the same while the Lake Erie Goose Zone was eliminated.

Opening day in the Marsh Zone will be on October 18, 2014 with the other two zones opening on October 25th, 2014.

The youth hunting weekend will take place statewide on October 4-5th, 2014 with regular season bag limits being applied.

Duck Hunting Season Dates

Ducks, coots, and mergansers are included in these season dates.

  • Lake Erie Marsh Zone: Oct. 18th-Nov. 2nd and Nov. 15th-Dec. 28th.
  • North Zone: Oct. 25th-Nov. 9th and Nov. 22nd-January 4th, 2015.
  • South Zone: Oct. 25th-Nov. 9th and Dec. 13th-January 25th, 2015.

Duck Hunting Daily Bag Limits

  • Ducks: Six total with no more than four being mallards and only one female mallard allowed. Up to three wood ducks, one black duck, two redheads, three scaup, one canvasback, two pintails, and one mottled duck.
  • Mergansers: Five total with no more than two hooded mergansers allowed.
  • Coots: 15

Possession limits after the second day are limited to three times the daily bag limit.

Goose Hunting Season Dates

  • Lake Erie Marsh Zone: Oct. 18-Nov. 2, Nov. 15-Dec. 28 and Jan. 14- Jan. 31, 2015.
  • North Zone: Oct. 25-Nov. 9, Nov. 22-Jan. 4, 2015 and Jan. 14-Jan. 31, 2015.
  • South Zone: Oct. 25-Nov. 9 and Dec. 11-Jan. 31, 2015.

Goose Hunting Daily Bag Limits

  • Canada Geese: 3
  • Light geese including Ross, snow and blue geese): 10
  • White-fronted Geese: 1
  • Brant: 1
