Ohio Deer Stuck in Plastic Halloween Pumpkin Freed [VIDEO]

An Ohio deer that had its head stuck in a plastic Halloween pumpkin has been freed thanks to a clever rescuer.

On Monday, police and state wildlife officers gathered near Mentor east of Cleveland to track down a deer that had a plastic Halloween pumpkin stuck on its head. Officers tried a variety of non-lethal capture methods, including a giant net, but nothing worked. Until a local hunter and volunteer rescuer decided to take a different approach.

Merrit is no stranger to helping wildlife. He's volunteers at Birds in Flight Sanctuary Inc. located in Warren, Ohio, where and his mother Heather Merrit provide care to birds in need.

A similar incident occurred last month in Pennsylvania where a roaming bear got its head stuck inside a bucket. The unlucky bruin, dubbed "The Bucket Bear" was trapped in the bucket for weeks until a similar volunteer team rescued it.
