The National Rifle Association (NRA) will allow concealed carry at Annual Meetings in Louisville, KY from May 20-22, 2016.
The 145th National Rifle Association (NRA) Annual Meetings gathering scheduled for May 20-22, 2016, in Louisville, Kentucky will permit concealed carry for those with permits. This move was decided by the organization this week. They plan to be in compliance with Kentucky's firearm laws, which permits those with concealed handgun permits to carry in places free of alcohol. Firearms will be prohibited in areas heavily guarded by Secret Service, namely the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Leadership Forum which features presidential candidates.
Last year's Annual Meetings in Nashville, Tenn. also permitted those with permits to carry to peaceably carry firearms at the annual gathering.
Unlike the RNC Convention set for Cleveland, Ohio, this summer--which appears to have forbidden firearms at the Quicken Loans Arena--Annual Meetings will be met with great reception by those eager to conceal carry. The annual event is expected to attract well over 70,000 conference goers, NRA members, families, and country music lovers.
Here is the official policy of concealed firearms at this year's Annual Meetings in Louisville, KY:
During the 2016 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, lawfully carried firearms will be permitted in the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC), with the proper license in accordance with Kentucky law. Firearms and knives will be prohibited in any areas temporarily under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Secret Service. When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws.
Please note that under Kentucky law, concealed firearms are prohibited in areas primarily devoted to dispensing alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption, and loaded firearms are prohibited in any room where alcoholic beverages are being sold by the drink. Alcoholic beverages will be served at some events at the Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC), in certain areas of the KFC Yum! Center, and in some smaller venues.
Several big country singers will be performing at NRA Annual Meetings this year. Brett Eldredge will headline the Country Jam on Friday, May 20. He will be joined by "I Got the Boy" singer Jana Kramer. Toby Keith will perform at the KFC Yum Center the following evening with "Buy Me A Boat" hitmaker Chris Janson.
Annual Meetings has made a good move to allow concealed carry at their annual gathering. It'll be the safest place in the country that weekend, that's for sure. I look forward to attending and seeing this great event come alive.
