Deer season is almost here, and the North Dakota lottery for tags has begun.
Lottery results were recently released for hunters interested in the upcoming deer season this fall in North Dakota.
Check out this new clip detailing the recent changes hunters can expect this deer season.
The North Dakota Game and Fish Department issued over 43,000 deer licenses this year to nearly 100,000 applicants.
According to Wildlife Division Chief Jeb Williams, the pool of people interested in participating in this deer season is strong.
The lottery has been amended this year to better accommodate those who don't get to participate in the 2015 deer season. Williams told reporters, "If they are unsuccessful in the lottery this year, they will build an additional bonus point for next year which gives them a little more of an advantage versus somebody that actually drew a license this year."
It's not too late to try to get a license, as a second lottery in September will be held for those who were unsuccessful this time around. The next lottery will be for 1,400 antlerless licenses.
