The ConnectScale will launch in June 2015, and along with the accompanying app, promises to help you change the way you fish and keep track of your catches.
Are you tired of recording all your fishing trip data by hand? Do you often miss out on the chance to weigh your fish because of the time and hassle it requires? The ConnectScale can help solve those problems for you.
The ConnectScale digital fishing scale automatically logs the weight of each fish you catch. It helps shorten the time a fish is out of the water and helps you remember each fish you bring in, enabling you to learn more about your fishing success.
If you are anything like me, even when you do remember to weigh a fish, it doesn't take long before you forget the number on the scale. The ConnectScale and smartphone app take care of that issue.
As a catch-and-release angler, I was immediately excited when I first heard the name ConnectScale. I hoped it would do exactly as its name hinted and I couldn't have been more pleased I was right! The ConnectScale smartphone app offers many other great features in addition to the weight data.
The app automatically records information such as location, weather, time, date, and temperature for each catch. You can then add additional information, such as lure type or fish length, within the app. It also gives you the option to store images of each catch.
The app features a secure email login function. The app's social media functionality enables you to log in via Facebook or Twitter and immediately share your catches and photos with all your friends. However, if one of your catches was at a secret fishing spot, the app has full privacy features to keep your location hidden.
The app's "My Catch" page displays the detailed information from every catch you add the app. With full cloud-based storage, you will even be able to log into your account on any device and access your information.
Having this type of information at your fingertips can help you remember important information about previous fishing trips, which should increase your catch rate in the future.
The "My Catch Log" page displays your ten most recent catches. You will quickly be able to see the photos of the fish you took with the app, along with the basic information associated with each. Please note these images are for display purposes only and do not represent real catches.
The app feature I am most excited about is the summary page. This is where you will be able to view all of your catches compiled into useful charts and graphs.
The "My Summary" page also allows you to see information such as your total amount of catches, your average catch weight, your largest catch, and the total weight of all your logged fish. This information will be able to be sorted via several parameters including species, lure, waterway and day. The information record using the ConnectScale and app will help you become a better angler. Patterns will emerge from your information, and you will be able to turn that into practical knowledge on the water.
ConnectScale and their app have potential for great success. According to the company founder and inventor, Ben Arnold, future features will hopefully include detailed weather data and lunar tables, as well as leader boards. There are also plans to make the ConnectScale tournament-friendly. It will be able to provide live leader boards for even smaller tournament fishing clubs and events. A saltwater model could also be in the works. All of these features depend on how much money is raised through the upcoming IndiGOGO campaign the company plans to launch in February or March 2015.
