Treehouses are a great way to get kids into the outdoors but Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s treehouse proves that they aren't just for kids anymore.
When I was a kid, everyone had some kind of treehouse. Even if it was something extremely unsafe that you built yourself, you had a place in the woods to call your own. I know I can vividly recall busting my head open with a hammer as I tried to build my masterpiece in the trees.
These days, treehouses seem to be, for most, a little more thought out and in general, they look a lot more like houses that just happen to be in trees. The options for these treehouses are endless and many adults, including Dale Earnhardt Jr., are building their own.
Junior recently posted to his Twitter account a few pictures that he calls the "finishing touches" to his custom treehouse and you need to see them.
I have to say, the place looks amazing. And the best part is that he says he only paid around $100 for the plans from Nelson Treehouse and Supply after being inspired to build his own while watching the television show, "Treehouse Masters."
In a recent interview with For the Win, Junior talks about the treehouse and how he went about building it.
While most of us don't have a race team to help us out, a project is a great way to get kids and the entire family outdoors for something everyone can enjoy for years.
