Tangled fishing line presumably led to a North Carolina teen beating his girlfriend.
Add this to the list of features in the "What is this world coming to?" category.
According to WBTW.com, 18-year old Michael Hutton is being charged with first degree attempted murder after beating his 17-year old girlfriend Hannah Connaway in Wilmington. She remains hospitalized in a medically-induced coma.
The local police are saying Hutton beat, dragged, and tried to choke Connaway after the two argued over fishing line that Hutton couldn't get untangled.
A 911 call from Connaway's friend reported the fight taking place at Hutton's home while his parents were out. The friend claimed Connaway was bleeding and couldn't walk.
The fight apparently moved to the home's yard, where Hutton tried to choke Connway until she passed out.
Hutton is being held on $1 million bond, and could be given a life sentence if convicted.
Fishing line can understandably frustrate the strongest-willed anglers, but this is completely unacceptable.
