Imagine taking your young child fishing on a dock when suddenly a big musky slams the panfish she’s reeling in.
Ella Ringer was fishing for crappies from a small dock on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. We don’t know who the adult is who’s helping her, but for this story let’s assume it’s her dad.
Suddenly, a decent-size muskie came out from under the dock and “t-boned” a crappie she had hooked! With some help and advice from ‘dad,’ Ella fought the muskie for several minutes.
Apparently the big fish was not hooked but was simply clamped down on the crappie. The video describes Ella’s tug of war as “like taking a ball away from a dog who wouldn’t let go.” I like that the adult in the video sounds more excited than Ella.
Ella gently brings the muskie to the dock and dad says he’s just going to cut the line rather than bring the fish out of the water. Then, as if to confirm the dog and ball analogy, the muskie released the crappie back to Ella! How cool is that?
