Joel Ramer and his girlfriend went for an off road adventure along some utility power lines. Their Jeep ran into a mud pit, getting stuck, and he called for a tow. What happened next floored him.
He was arrested and cited for disturbing the peace and trespassing. He was then charged $48,835 for the 12 hour job of recovering his stuck Jeep.
The charges break down like this: “Assured Collision billed him $16,000 for an on-scene supervisor at $1,250 an hour. He is being charged more than $10,000 for an off-road recovery incident response unit. There is also a $5,000 fee for dangerous condition liability insurance.”
Is this ridiculous, or what?
