This lucky hunter got a second chance to take this buck after his gun fails to eject the first shell.
The old saying goes, "it's better to be lucky than good." Well, this young hunter found out just how true that can be, especially when you're deer hunting.
If you hunt whitetails long enough, this is bound to happen, but none of us may get the kind of second chance that this hunter did.
First of all, this is quite typical of a very young deer, but could he have made more noise?
Secondly, before the hate starts for a young hunter taking a little buck during the regular, legal season, let's review:
The YouTube user, rjs6215, states that he was hunting near Mount Morris, NY. Mount Morris is listed on the NYS DEC website as being in WMU 8M (Wildlife Management Unit). Currently, there are no antler restrictions listed for WMU 8M.
This young hunter kept his cool, reloaded, and filled his deer tag (and his freezer).
If we want to say anything, let's simply extend the advice to another hunter to let a young deer walk and have a chance to turn into next year's trophy.
