Ideal Handguns for Concealed Carry from S&W

These S&W pistols are the premier choice for concealed carry.

Now that every state allows concealed carry, it’s never been a better time for gun manufacturers with small handguns.

Smith & Wesson is no exception and come to think of it, they have some of the best carry pistols. From smallest to largest, check out our list of S&W handguns that excel in concealed carry.

About as small of a pistol you can comfortably shoot more than a few times, the Bodyguard has solidified its position in my list of top carry pistols.

Due to its small stature, your caliber choices are limited to .380 ACP.

The handgun features a DAO (double-action only) hammer fired design with an optional built in laser sight for quick shots in less than optimal conditions.

I’d have to say the small size and price are its biggest selling points.

Are you trying to unleash your inner Dirty Harry, but don’t have nearly enough room to fit a huge wheel gun on your person?

The Bodyguard 38 is a 5-shot 38 Special revolver that despite its size packs a big punch.

It also comes with a built in Crimson Trace laser sight for those low light conditions when speed and accuracy are of crucial importance.

The J-frame design and internal hammer make for a snag free pistol, perfect for fast draws.

Smith and Wesson M&P Shield

If you’re looking for a little more capacity and a caliber with better ballistic performance, the M&P Shield is the answer. Offered in either 9mm or 40s&w and 7+1 or 6+1 magazine capacities respectively, the Shield ramps up the amount of firepower on hand.

Those of you looking for a few more rounds on tap will appreciate the S&W extended factory mags.

I have shot the Shield extensively and found that when carried in the appendix position, the gun’s size is barely noticeable throughout your day.

Marginally bigger than its baby brother the Shield, the M&Pc is available in a wide range of options. A 9mm with 12+1, a 40 caliber with 10+1, and a 357 Sig with 10+1, so depending on your caliber preference there’s something for everyone.

The interchangeable back straps for the grip let you tailor the pistol to fit your hand instead of other guns that require you to fit your hand to the gun. Another awesome thing is that you can run the full size magazines in the compact pistol, giving you a few extra rounds of precious pew pew.

For over 160 years, Smith and Wesson has been churning out some of the highest quality firearms known to man. All of that time tested knowledge is the reason they’re topping the charts with the best concealed carry pistols on the market.

You can’t go wrong with any one of the excellent carry guns that highlighted above. The question isn’t whether or not to buy a S&W but what you need to sacrifice in order to buy them all.
