To all the hardwater fishermen around Chicago who've been waiting and watching the extended forecast, the wait is over. Ice fishing season is here!
Time to let those auger blades eat and fire up the Vexilar. Though folks have been pulling fish through holes for over a week now, the local Fox affiliate out of Chicago covered some ice fishermen trying their luck on Silver Lake in the Blackwell Forest Preserve in DuPage county.
I'm guessing ice fishing is not something the reporter is not terribly familiar with. Pay special attention to how she pronounces 'ice fishing.'
It kind of sounds like she thinks it's an exotic medical condition.
How about the guy catching the crappie then tossing it back before they got a good shot of it on camera?
"No no no wait!"
Unfamiliarity aside, it is great to see mainstream news covering fishing. If you're in the area and interested in participating in the Hardwater Classic at Silver Lake on Saturday, February 13, visit the Blackwell Forest page for more details.
