Want to check out how you can hunt like your ancestors did when Pennsylvania was still a frontier well have a look at this old-school whitetail hunt.
This team demonstrates how to hunt like your ancestors did when they stalk a whitetail in the wilds of western Pennsylvania.
A great snapshot of what a deer hunt would have looked like around the time of the Revolutionary War. What is interesting is how these guys interacted as a team. Not only for the hunt, but after the shot, field dressing, finding expedient shelter and getting a fire going. I imagine this teamwork was what was required in the black powder era; each hunter performing a chore, quickly and confidently to ensure meat on the table and survival on the American frontier.
Black powder hunting continues to grow in popularity today and more hunters are taking up this traditional hunting method. It doesn't hurt that in many areas, like mine, there is an extra week of hunting post rifle season for black powder firearms.
To check out a selection of black powder guns to start a more traditional deer hunt this coming season see Cabela's.
