ECO Jeff Hull received a report of a deer with its head stuck in some sort of light globe in the town of Centereach, New York, but what he found must have had him shaking his head.
A whitetailed deer had somehow managed to trap its own head inside of a light globe, and we may never know how or even more to the point why. The deer had been laying in the woods nearby since the night before when CEO Hull found it some 20 or so yards off the road.
The NYS DEC Officer was able to get close enough to the animal for one quick try during which the slippery globe and deer were able to escape- globe still intact. After the deer ran, subsequently running into a tree and falling down again, the ECO was able to re-grip the globe-entangled whitetail by throwing his coat over the head of the deer.
Now, hanging on for dear life, (pun intended) he was able to bear hug the globe and free the raging doe, but not before sustaining a few bruises of his own. The deer ran away and left only a good story for one tired, but smiling DEC ECO.
