A new Kickstarter campaign known as the Flying Tent claims to be the world's first all-in-one floating tent. Is it the end goal for camping?
Coming out of Austria, the Flying Tent boasts its design as being the first "all-in-one floating tent, bivy tent, hammock, rain poncho, and much more," but is it really?
Over 770 people have backed this campaign on Kickstarter and it is well beyond its original goal of $22,803. Instead, it's currently funded for $171,448 with that number increasing daily.
The tent can be strung between two trees or also work as a bivy tent on the ground. It comes with a water-resistant fly and a mosquito net. Keep the tent open for a starry night.
The upper section of the tent can be zipped off, revealing a hammock, which can be further converted into a rain poncho for emergency use. The length of the hammock means the poncho will keep every inch of your body dry, which is pretty cool.
The tent comes in three different colors, aptly named ocean view (blue), grasshopper (green), and sunset (orange). It can be set up in seven seconds, per the Kickstarter campaign, and only weighs 2.64 pounds.
What do you think about this new tent design? It's innovative and I'll be excited to read reviews on it once the first packages are sent out.
