Casting streamers in Montana for spring trout is a tactic that will get you some great hookups.
MontanaWildOutdoors goes fly fishing with streamers in Montana to hook into some beautiful river run trout.
Streamer fishing has to be some of the most exciting fly angling you can do. You don’t have to finesse these big flies as much to pull in some very nice and hungry trout.
For high water levels, such as you find in the spring, streamers can be very effective in attracting and provoking hits from big trout.
Streamers are also great to tie at your own bench. There is a great selection of tried-and-true patterns, but I also like to get creative and invent some of my own patterns. Using big streamer hooks makes them fun to tie and a little less finicky as smaller trout patterns. Go bold and bright and you have streamer flies that will work on a wide variety of freshwater species.
