Think 'Call of Duty' meets bowfishing in this first-person shooter carp kill.
I've fished this farm pond for years and had seen these kindergartner-sized grass carp grazing before. On this particular day, I came armed with my bowfishing rig and a Garmin Virb action camera.
The fish were schooled up and cycling into a small cove then back out into deeper water. You can see dorsal fins at 1:15 in the distance.
When they were away from the bank I made my move to a shooting location.
The crazy Darth Vader sound at 1:22? That's me realizing I had nothing to rest the camera on, so I stuck it in my mouth. Life is hard for us mouth breathers.
It wasn't until I stuck the fish and began pulling it in that I realized how big it was. She weighed in at over 38 pounds, and since this pond was so clean, our family has been enjoying some delicious fish tacos thanks to her!
Virtual bowfishing is great, but nothing beats the real thing. Summer is the perfect time to get out and stick some fish.
Now go get 'em!
