7 Father’s Day Recommendations From the Gear We’ve Used

These would all make great Father’s Day recommendations, and we’ll vouch for each one.

We get a lot of stuff sent to Wide Open Spaces headquarters (and if you’ve got something we might be interested in, be sure to reach out to [email protected] and let us know), and pretty much everything surpasses our expectations.

Why not gather the best of the best and use them as the basis for our latest Father’s Day list? Here are 10 things we know good old dad will love, because we love them, too.

1. OD Quick Draw Knife

The OD Quick Draw, a USA-made, multi-purpose field knife, might just be one of the best all-around knives we’ve come across. A knife also holds a special prestige when it’s given as a gift. Your dad (or any dad) would be proud to own one like the OD Quick Draw.

2. Impact Sport Earmuffs in Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity

Howard Leight, a division of Honeywell, recently came out with a new style of earmuffs, the Impact Sport version in Mossy Oak Breakup. WE can say, from experience, that these are easily the best earmuffs we’ve ever put over our ears.

3. Pelican Marine Phone Case

If your dad spends any time on the boat, a sturdy and waterproof phone case is essential. Don’t skip on the features and go with Pelican’s Marine Phone Case, proven to be IP68 certified waterproof. We’ve tried to beat this thing up and make it fail since we received it, and haven’t had any success. Look for a full review coming up soon, but for now, just trust us, it’ll work.

4. Merrell Capra Hiking Boots

Don’t let him be the old guy trying to hike in tennies, and get dad a pair of Merrell Capra Bolts. Bold styles will make him appear hip (something dads all strive for) and the performance will be unprecedented. They’re waterproof, super lightweight, and extremely sturdy.

5. G. Loomis Casting Rod and Shimano Citica Baitcasting Reel

Each of the components mentioned here make up a fantastic combo choice, but the best part of the G. Loomis E6X rods is that there is a wide selection of specific styles. The Citica works for each one, and is a great all-around workhorse of a low profile reel.

6. Redington Palix Waders and Prowler Boots

For those dads who are stuck bank fishing, imagine how great it would be to get them wading into the water, closer to the fish thy love to catch? Satisfy their desires and get them these two great items from Redington: the Palix Waders and Prowler Wading Boots. Both stood up as fantastic fishing gear additions, and we’ll provide more info in a full review soon.

7. Chair-Pak

The Chair-Pak is something your dad is going to end up using far more than he’d ever imagine. It’s functional, comfortable, and available for a really decent price.
