A hot breakfast really hits the spot when you’re camping in the fall.
In the following video, Dave Canterbury with Self Reliance Outfitters, a division of The Pathfinder School, shows how to make a simple, hot and delicious Mountain Man breakfast.
It won’t overstuff your pack, but it will fill your belly.
Just a small kettle and skillet are used for cooking this meal. In fact, the two eventually get combined to make a small Dutch oven.
The ingredients are easy, too: red potatoes, sausage, stuffing, eggs, and cheese.
Now, Canterbury does have a neat stand made out of rebar to hold the pans over the fire, but a campfire tripod or other stand will work just fine.
Judging by Canterbury’s comments, for more flavor, make sure you have spicier sausage. Or a bottle of hot sauce.
The most important part of the video? Rufus the dog’s seal of approval…two helping’s worth.
